Date: Saturday, April 21, 2007

The meeting will be 11:30 AM-3 PM in the Fine Arts Building, 116A. The Fine Arts complex is on the east side of the campus (bordered by 13th Street).

Please consult the campus map at: http://campusmap.ufl.edu

Parking for the meeting: On Saturdays there is parking in the lot west of Tigert Hall on 13th street. From 13th Street, turn west on Union Road and left at the parking kiosk. There is also parking to the right.

If these lots are full, there is paid parking on University Avenue at about 15th street and another lot on NW 1st Avenue, just north of St. Augustine Church.

Melissa Hyde’s home address is: 1326 NW 12th Road

Gainesville FL 32605

Her phone number is: 352 335 3771

She is expecting people for wine and cheese on Friday, April 20 5-7 PM.

Directions to Melissa’s house from I-75:

From I-75: take the Newberry exit (exit 387) and turn east onto Newberry Road. (If you are coming from Tallahassee, you will be turning left onto Newberry; from Tampa you turn right.)

Proceed east down Newberry Road. You will first pass the Oaks Mall on your right; continue for a little over 6 miles -- you will cross several major intersections (8th Ave; then 43rd Street). Pass the movie theater on your left; stay in the middle lane; then cross 34th St (there is a Publix at this intersection). By this time Newberry has turned into University Ave. Stay on University until you pass the UF campus. Turn left at the stoplight on NW 13th Street, which is the eastern edge of campus. At the intersection where you turn there’s a big construction site on your left and a Holiday Inn across the street from it.

Go north on 13th, past Applebee’s and Office Depot. Immediately after these, also on your right will be a AAA office, and then a blood donation center; on the left a colonial style house that is the Gainesville Music Academy, and a one-story, off white commercial building. Turn left there – that is NW 12th Road; our house is a white ranch house. First house in from 13th, on your right.

If you get to NW 16th Ave, and the Walgreen’s you’ve gone too far.

Accomodations: recommendations from Melissa Hyde

“Here is a link for B & B's in Gainesville and surrounds:

http://www.visitgainesville.net/bnb.htm

In Gainesville proper are:

Magnolia (my parents stayed at this one and it was fine, in a pseudo-Victorian, doily, B&B sort of way, but I think they're all like that).

Sweetwater

Laurel Oak

The others are in little towns about 15-20 min drive from Gville -- the one in Micanopy looks esp. nice.

There's also rather expensive Hilton right by the Harn, and the usual chains -- including a Holiday Inn by campus.
